Oh Snap — Privacy Policy

Information you provide:

• Your culture/background preferences (set in the extension options page)
• Dietary restriction preferences (halal, kosher, vegan, etc.)
• Gift recipient details (culture, relationship, occasion — when you enable Gift Mode)
• Body measurements (if you choose to enter them for fit recommendations)
• Persona preference (which AI shopping persona you choose)

Information collected automatically (only if you opt in):

• Anonymous engagement telemetry — impression and action events that help us improve product recommendations. This is off by default and must be explicitly enabled in Settings → Privacy & Telemetry.
• A randomly generated analytics profile ID (not linked to your real identity)

This web app:

• Stores your chosen persona and optional measurement fields in this browser only (localStorage on the device you use for the site).
• Sends quiz and preference context to our API only when you request recommendations or related features — not for unrelated tracking.

• We do not collect your name, email, or any personally identifiable information
• We do not collect your browsing history
• We do not track which websites you visit
• We do not collect payment information or credit card numbers
• We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties
• We do not serve advertisements

Your preferences (culture, dietary restrictions, Gift Mode settings) are stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly enable engagement telemetry.

If you enable engagement telemetry, anonymous event data is sent to our secure AWS infrastructure (encrypted in transit and at rest) and used solely to improve the product experience.

When you visit a supported shopping site (Amazon, Etsy, Walmart, and others), Oh Snap reads the product page to provide cultural and dietary analysis. This analysis happens locally in your browser. Product data is not stored on our servers unless you have opted into engagement telemetry, in which case only anonymous interaction events (not the product data itself) are transmitted.

Some features (personalized recommendations, trend scanning, the shopping persona experience) are powered by AI models. When you use these features, your preferences and product context are sent to our secure API to generate recommendations. We do not store conversation content beyond what is needed to provide the service, and we do not use your data to train AI models.

Oh Snap may include affiliate links in product recommendations. When you purchase through these links, we may earn a small commission at no additional cost to you. Affiliate relationships do not influence which products are recommended — recommendations are based solely on your preferences, the persona's taste profile, and product quality.

• Engagement telemetry: Off by default. Enable or disable at any time in Settings → Privacy & Telemetry.
• Clear your data: Use "Reset Oh Snap memory" in Settings to clear all dismissal history and category preferences.
• Uninstall: Removing the extension deletes all locally stored data.
• Preferences: You can change your culture, dietary, and module settings at any time in the Options page.
• Web app: Clear site data for this origin in your browser settings to remove persona and measurements stored for the website.

Oh Snap is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with data, please contact us and we will promptly delete it.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date. Continued use of Oh Snap after changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
